I kinda wish I wrote this book.
It’s just simply...good.
The idea is enchanting, to say the least. A girl deemed (or doomed) to live invisibly among the world. A deal made with a devil.
I’ll say that the book doesn’t forge a completely new path. There’s some predictability, to be sure. But it’s all so beautiful, and hits you with emotion, even in the places you know are coming.
Things come full circle, small asides and major mechanics. There’s a taste of New York City living, along with other deep dives into America and Europe, that always gives me a little buzz to read. And there’s a great use of historical events to tie in Addie’s unique journey through time.
I would recommend this book to any reader I know. It’s a little fantastical, but I wouldn’t believe anyone that said they didn’t enjoy it. Good for a fun read, a different read, or an acclaimed read. Funnily enough, it’s not my favorite book by any means. But damn is it enjoyable. A must read for anybody.
To give more away would diminish the ride.
Ugh. I wish I wrote this book.
