A book so full of climactic scenes and threads finding their end, it’s hard to believe this isn’t the finale. But in true Wheel of Time fashion, that finale is bubbling under the surface with every word.
Multiple parts had me checking the page count, shocked to find hundreds of pages still to come. The scenes are so enthralling, especially after so much build-up, there’s hardly any use in putting the book down just to find yourself reaching for it again. It’s a constant combo of tension and relief; a creeping comprehension that characters you’ve grown to care about may not be there to see the increasingly apparent end, but satisfaction for all the plot lines culminating handsomely and the characters that survive them. It’s a peak that I can’t wait to see topped right after this.
It’s been a long journey in this fantasy world. I entered it two years ago this week. And I crossed the halfway mark a year ago yesterday. It’s becoming almost peculiar to imagine not having this series waiting for me to return, to strike up where I left off and see how much bigger it can get. But for now, I’m just ready to chase these remaining threads to an unforgettable ending. A tale of this magnitude can’t end any other way.
The last book and Last Battle are here.
Finally.
