This was a great one to read while simultaneously living in NYC and also watching the 'New York' documentary series on Amazon. I would sometimes read a section on the train, like when Si watches Jake in City Hall Park, and then find myself in that park by accident that night! And the day after watching the documentary talk about the Statue of Liberty's arm in Madison Square Park, I read that exact part of the book. It got a little eerie sometimes, but super fun. Clearly, I was meant to read this book at this moment, and it happens to be a great one as well. It starts pretty calm through the first half, and then things really pick up the last 200 pages.
I've learned there is so much history on every street of this city, and this book helps dive into one specific era in a creative way. I feel like reading it while living here gave me a connection to the city that I will have for a long time.
